Alternate Side Parking

The City of Cuba City Municipal Ordinance 4.05(11) states:

“From November 1 to April 1 of each year, alternate side parking on city streets shall be in effect from 12:00 AM to 6:00 AM on any day following any snowfall, and shall be in effect for the next two (2) calendar days following the conclusion of the snowfall. Alternate side parking means that vehicles shall be parked on even numbered side of the street on even numbered calendar days, and on the odd numbered side of the street on odd numbered calendar days.”

An easy way to remember the restrictive parking is to ‘park for tomorrow.’ When you park your car at night on the 21st, intending to leave your vehicle in that spot overnight, park on the even side of the street, for the 22nd; the police do not expect you to get up in the middle of the night to move your vehicle.

Police write parking citations when a vehicle violates the ordinance. Unpaid parking citations can result in the suspension of a vehicle registration and a larger forfeiture amount is required to reconcile the matter with the Wisconsin Department of Motor Vehicles.
